State private investigator associations help to further the detective vocation and provide various benefits for members in almost every state in America. The United States is the largest market for private investigation services and each state has its own policies for regulating the profession. It is for this reason that all investigators are encouraged to join at least one organization in their home state, to stay current on all the news that might affect them as working private detectives.
This article provides a listing of the major investigation organizations for each state in America.
State Private Investigator Associations Benefits
Statewide organizations are smaller than US national investigation associations. This allows for more networking opportunities on a local level. Additionally, since states all have different laws regarding the investigative careers, state organizations can focus on the exact policies and changes affecting members in their region, rather than concentrating on regulations all across the country.
Typically, member benefits include lobbying efforts on behalf of the trade, continuing educational opportunities, licensure resources and support for other needs, including insurance and bonding.

Joining a State Private Investigators Association
We always recommend that professional investigators join a local or state-wide group to stay up-to-date on legislation which will affect them in their day to day work life. Additionally, most of the state groups maintain close ties to the largest national private detective associations, so members will get the bonus of learning how the profession functions in the rest of the country. This is particularly helpful for private investigators who travel regularly during their case assignments.
Remember, ff you travel abroad for case work, you might also consider joining an international private investigator association for member support overseas.
To learn more about any of these fine organizations, please contact the membership department directly with your inquiries.
